I want to get a telescope but I'm sure they're hundreds of dollars (which I dont have) Do you own one that you want to sell, if so how much is it?

You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars to get a good telescope. For example, Wal-Mart sells a Meade 60mm telescope for $60. Just be sure you get one from a good brand name such as Meade, Celestron or Orion. And buy the largest aperture you can afford (60mm, 90mm, etc.) not by the listed magnification. The listed magnification is often exaggerated even for good telescopes. A rule of thumb is the useful magnification is twice the listed aperture size in millimeters (120x for 60mm, 180x for 90mm, etc.). The usual magnification for looking at the moon and planets is 100x-200x so a 60mm to 90mm is a good beginner telescope.

Many good telescope stores also sell used telescopes on behalf of their owners (the telescope does notbelong to the store, but the store gets a percentage for selling them).

The advantage is that they (the experts at the store) will be able to tell you if the telescope is still in good condition, if it is the kind of telescope you need for your kinds of interest and they'll even show you how to use it properly.

In many cases, they are not doing it for the money (their cut for the sale is not that big); they do it because if you like using a telescope, they hope that you'll buy a much better (and more expensive) one next time.
