Everything that you do is a reflection of you. We are more judged by our action than our words. You are a person of integrity if your actions are congruent with your words. If not then you are a liar.

When they follow them up with the actions to prove it. I have been doing this for my entire 52 years of life. When I first meet a person and they get to know me, I make it a point to try to keep all promises I make to them, even the small insignificant ones. If for some reason I can't, I acknowledge to them why I failed in doing so and try to make it right. It shows honesty and integrity. I found keeping those small promises will build a true trust.

You don't.
You just have to put yourself out there and trust them.
Sometimes it's really hard to let yourself become vulnerable, but there are so many rewards in it too.
I generally give most people the benefit of the doubt, unless proven otherwise.
