Why do girls wear makeup?

Why do girls wear make up? Just to look "hot" for the guys?

...because they think they look prettier with it on. I think I look really plain without it. It's all about self confidence....not for the guys!!! As superficial as it sounds, I feel better with makeup on and most women do!

I have a little bit of scarring from my teen years and some redness, so I wear makeup to even out my skin tone. I also use it to enhance my features or disguise flaws. It's also fun to experiment with different looks, whether it be the sassy siren for my husband or young fresh chicky out with friends.

What I don't understand is women who wear makeup to the gym. I don't know about anyone else, but I sweat like a pig on a spit when I'm working out! Maybe I should start a new thread...

That is one reason (although I actually read in a book that 85 perent of guys would rather girls to not wear make up), but the other reasons include:
- self-esteem; in my personal opinion, when i wear makeup I am much more confident and brave about myself, and I am more sociable with other people.
- to be able to see a pretty little face every time you look in the mirror.
- because everyone at school wears it.
- to cover up something, like acne or zits

I can't speak for other girls but sometimes I use a little bit of makeup like mascara and a really subtle eyeshadow to feel pretty. If a guy just thinks about what a girl looks like then he doesn't deserve a good girl.

For some girls, yeah. For others it's because we don't think we look that pretty and that makeup will help. Also, it evens out our skin tone and makes lots of us look prettier. But if you have natural beauty, then you definitely don't need any makeup!

Sometimes it's to hide flaws like unsightly zits.
Sometimes it's to look nice for a date.
Sometimes, yes, it's to look hot for the guys.
Most the time, it's to a help highlight a female's features, and not to hide ''flaws''.
Also, it is a good way of self expression.
And if it can help some girls feel better about themselves then good for them.

It's not so much about the guys as it is for the confidence or attention. If you can look in the mirror and think "wow, I look like a fxcking supermodel" it kind of gives a little perk of self-esteem, needed or not.

Its not because 'our friends do' and only a guy would think of that... i personally wear it because it's relaxing, theres just something about dolling your self up, it also boosts our self-esteem, when you've never worn make-up and you go get your make-up done at the mall and you look in the mirror when your done you think 'wow, is that really me?'

Sometimes it makes them look more glamerous, I like makeup it makes me feel pretty, Some makeup makes you look weird it depends on what kind of makeup you put on.

for most girls who wear make up it is not all about boys. it also helps your self esteem, or just to cover up un wanted things. and sometimes we just wear it to feel confident even if we aren't doing anything special at all.
