What would it look like, inside and outside? What would your room look like? How would it be unique from other palaces?

I have thought about this often. I'll be brief and write about only one room: the library. It would be in a tower with a spiral staircase and a ladder that spins up and down the walls so I can reach books from the polished oak shelves. The sun would light the room during the day, but not overheat it. And I would have a large desk and a large, comfy chair...

I have tried to recreate this room everywhere I've lived. My current office is ugly compared to my dream room, but I pretend often that I'm in the tower and reading.

My palace would not be a single building, but rather a compound or complex, built like a 17th century Spanish monastery, with flower gardens and fountains in the inner courts, while surrounded by grain and vegetable gardens, forest, stables, kennels, mews.....

My "room" would be a suite of rooms, including a private audience room, private library, private music room, morning room, etc. There would also be "grand" or public versions of these same rooms.

It would not be unique or emergent -- merely a comfortable modern version of an older architecture.
