Jerry Lawler is being inducted into the Hall of Fame because he deserves it. Lawler has done a lot to bring wrestling to the mainstream. Whether it was his work in Mid-South Wrestling based in Memphis TN or his wrestling and Commentating for the WWE, Lawler has shown his skill and passion for wrestling in every aspect of the industry.

No he is not retiring anytime soon. Lawler is a legendary rule breaker who has won numerous titles. He still wrestles a ton of indy shows and still on occassion in the WWE. He is not retired. He still wrestles roughly 75-80 times a year.

He's already retired from wrestling. He has a long-term commentary contract, though.

Not that I know of. And if he was retiring, wouldn't it make more sense to be honored with this AFTER he retired?

I don't think that's the reason at all. He started wrestling in 1971, he's put in his time.
