I've heard that there are groups that have some sort of tourtaments and fight each other using medevil armor and weapons. This isn't a renactment or just learning about medevil fighting techniques...from what im aware of they actually duke it out with each other.

Does anyone know of this going on around Massachusetts? More specific the South Shore area? Any info would be great

Thanks but what I've heard of is something more amature. Thats not put on or any kind of a 'show' or event. Its just random people who've formed this group and fight with each other medevil style among themselves.

Yeah an SCA or LARP group is your best bet. You have to earn your right to use medieval armor and weapons though. They start you off on a replica made mostly of pvc pipe, the foam noodles used in pools, and a lot of duct tape.

Basically you are learning the techniques and a certain level of acting is required. When you get hit with the "broadsword" (which they add a lot of weight to so that it is not just half a pound of foam), you lose a leg and are no longer allowed to use that leg.

You have to learn about medievil fighting techniques before you can play with the sharp toys--"you'll put your eye out kid"

King Richard's Faire in Carver, Mass., from Sept. 1st to Oct. 21st. It's a recreational event that takes place in a rural forested area within the town of Carver. It is a recreation of a Medieval-era English kingdom. I've been there before and it is a very popular and fun thing to go to. They have many things to see, participate in, and eat as well. Especially, I loved the swordfighting and jolsting events they have there. You'll definitely like it because it is very much worth going to!

Try the Society for Creative Anachronism.
If you google it it will come up if you spell "medieval" correctly.
