no I think you are absolutely right ....If you are not going to be a informed and active part of the voting process then you have no right too moan and groan about our government and the way things in our country are going. If you have a belief then stand up for it and exercise the right that so many men and women gave there lives for,The right to freedom, the right to vote.
As for a reason why people dont vote honestly I think it is Laziness but you know that is only my opinion.

Well, in answer to your question, I've done the research early on and most likely since I want to vote Democrat for President, I will have the choice of either Hillary Clinton who has no chance of winning as President since many people really do not like her and will try to vote to ensure that she will not win (but she has millions and has a good chance of winning the nomination), and Barack Obama who has only 2 years of experience who I do not feel has enough experience at this point and even he admitted a few months ago does not have enough experience to be President. I have been actively campaigning for another candidate, but it's all about the money and it probably will wind up one of those two candidates since they seem to be attracting all the big money donors.
You know, I wonder sometimes if Republicans are sinking some of their money into Hillary's campaign as well, thus ensuring that their candidate will win in the end. That is probably one of the smartest things they could do to ensure a Republican President next time around!

There isn't a valid reason for people to not get involved - only excuses. Usually they're too busy, too lazy, to apathetic.
A lot of people are overwhelmed with the enormity of it - it's so much research, and if they're uninformed to begin with, it's pretty overwhelming.
I'm a big advocate of voting, I think people should be involved and vote. BUT, I also believe that an uninformed, uneducated voter who will close their eyes and point to choose a candidate does us all a favor by staying home and not voting. Be an educated voter or don't vote.
Unfortunately, I don't volunteer or support as much as I'd like to, but I do as much as I possibly can.

I couldn't agree with you more! Finally someone else around here that does their research and helps to campaign. Although our forefathers fought for our right to vote, most Americans are too apathetic. I've asked myself the same questions over and over.... I work a fulltime job, take care of a family, am the precinct chair for my precinct here in Travis County, Texas, and volunteer on at least one or two campaigns each election. If I can do it, anyone can!

Sometimes there isn't a good person to campaign for. And liking a candidate doesn't mean there isn't anything wrong with that candidate, even the best of people have flaws. You're more likely to have to choose between bad and worse than you are between good and bad. So the "lesser of two evils", or even "better the Devil you know than the Devil you don't" tends to be what you'll get.
Sounds like even with all of the campaigning you've done, you're still somewhat naive.

i've got examine McCain's positions on subject concerns, and from what i will tell, he's not professional abortion, nor does he oppose the Sanctity of Marriage Act. the problem of stem cellular analyze is promptly turning out to be moot, as researchers are analyzing supplies for stem cells that are no longer human embryos. i'm a Christian and nevertheless I disagree with you on many factors politically, that may not suitable to the question you posed. i could say that in case you experience that a definite candidate is amoral, you may desire to no longer vote for her or him. I even have voted for 0.33 events interior the previous, which includes interior the final election. i think of George Bush is evil, yet Kerry did no longer rather do it for me the two, so I went with the eco-friendly social gathering. did no longer remember, rather, for the reason that in new york state the Democrat is a lock for the elctoral college.

Having worked on a very unsuccessful gubernatorial campaign it is very time consuming and leads to strange bed fellows
I was making phone calls to special interest supporters even though I did not support their issue. I was calling about candidates I did not support, because I wanted to turn out more voters for people who would likely support my candidate.
Completly not evil could never get elected. Because completly not evil has not live long enough to take a stand on anything.

My opinion, precisely.
People are too lazy or simply to dumb to actually pick up a book, watch a credible news program, read a coupla newspapers, go out and attend political meetings, listen to the candidates - to what THEY say, not what someone tells you they say.
That's how our current president got elected. Too many of we mature voters stayed home and too many of the idiots voted.
I to have always been active not only in politics but in many other public arenas where we all have a voice but not many of us speak.
Good for you.

I am active with my local republican party (even though I'm independent). People are just too lazy nowadays, and would rather smoke weed then ensure their future. I believe college has a huge part of this. Its just a reason to delay maturation for 4 more years most people, and then is when they become pot smoking lazy-a$$es. (I'm 22 and just out of college) I guess that sums up my generation.

I agree, people dont stand up for what they belive in anymore. Its not just politics either. You wouldnt have the health care crises and a need to raise the minimum wage if people stand up and say were not going to take it, you give us what we want or were on strike. What ever happened to unions, and protestors, or hell even someone that can speek their minds?
