You can but most programs (at least the ones I was interested in) accept you into a Masters with the intention that you will complete the PhD. Usually you'll work for a year or two completeing your masters and taking advanced courses and complete your masters thesis which will set you up nicely to complete your disertation and oral defense of your doctoral thesis. Most programs require a thesis to be completed in your Bachelors degree... even if they don't require it, it provides a great reference to have your thesis advisor bang out an awesome reference.

Yes, you need a master's degree to enroll into a PH.D program or to pursure a doctrine degree.
This is the order of education

High school diploma
Associates degree
Bachelor's degree
Master's degree
Ph.d/Doctrine

B.S means bachelor's of science and B.A means bachelor's of art.
Getting an associates is like saying.. I have a general knowledge of a subject... a bachelor's is like saying.. I have more of a specified idea and knowledge of a particular subject... having a masters is like saying.. i have mastered a certain topic/subject and a ph.d/doctine is like saying.. im so good in this field i might as well just teach others.

according to my professor you don't need a masters to get a PhD and actually its just a waste of time becuase there really isn't much more you can do with a masters. Just go and get the PhD.

BA / BSc will do fine, BUT you need:

1. an honours thesis
2. good undergrad research experience e.g. working in with your psych profs on their research, working as research assistants in their labs
3. good GPA and not just an average one.

Basically what it means is that you must have good credentials compared to other applicants. You can check out the requirements from your desired postgrad universities. Also, you need not have been a psychology major, many programmes do look out for a strong background in the sciences and math. Statistics especially!

i don't think you need it but it is best to have one as it prepares you for the work/papers you have to do.
