she's already showing signs

I think it depends on your child and you know her best. If she is already showing signs than you should go ahead and start, but I wouldn't be too pushy. I would encourage her and remind her, but I would not throw away the pampers yet.

In my experience girls will usually start before boys and won't have as many problems with going #2 in the potty. With my children (5) I looked for the signs ie. being interested in the potty when you are using it, also wanting that diaper off as soon as it is wet. Everyone of my children were about 16 to 24 months when they got started. I started off by taking them to the potty every 2 hrs or so. I didn't read a book or anything like that, that's not what we're there for. If she goes make a huge deal about it. The proverbial potty dance was big for us. That was my reward for them, not candy or anything else. If she's really ready she will catch on fast. I am not a big fan of the pull ups, they don't let the kids know if they are wet as well as old fashioned thick cotton training pants. When we would go out, I would put a pair of rubber pants over the top of the training pants, and carried lots of extras. good luck.

Most girls don't really start using the potty till about 3.My daughter just turned 2 and she'll sit on her's but no pee pee in the potty yet!! If she seems like she's interested take her to the store let her pick out a potty(make sure her feet firmly touch the ground).

-Get some potty treats (m&m's or whatever)and every time she willingly gets on it give her 2 for trying. When she really goes make sure she has at least 3 per hand.

-We also use a chart. We put happy face stickers on a chart and when she reaches 5 she gets a small toy.10 she gets a bigger toy so on and so forth.Remember not to make her use the potty when she doesn't seem interested.

-When you start using panties have her pick them out.For the first week or so have her try and use the potty every 15 -30 minutes.I know it seems like much but when she gets used to going to it she'll start telling you when it's time.

-We also recamend potty books. At least 3.

As long as she's showing interest, it's not too early. Girls usually potty train earlier than boys

No. Remember that developmental stages of life are just guidelines. If your child deviates a little from this progress, especially with advancement, there should be little concern. However, if your 16-month-old was still crawling and not attempting to walk, then you might be alarmed. Also, think about the $$$ you will be saving from no more diapers....Go for it!

My friend always says when they are old enough to sit up they are old enough. I have a daughter but when it comes to potty training her I didn't she did all by herself. Soz I'm gunna say try and invest in a LOT of pullups and plan for at least a year to train. My daughter is now six and still uses those Good Nites.

Girl or boy? You can train a girl at this age, but it is much harder with a boy....wouldn't start a boy until at least 2 or 2 1/2....and sometimes you train a child early...then have another one right away, and have to do it over.....

But girls often train easily....not sure why.
