That would be a mistake. Goldfish need much more room than guppies and the guppies would look rather lost in that large of a tank, but more importantly is the temperature. Goldfish need cooler water and while guppies can tolerate it, they don;t do well at all in the temperatures goldfish require.

Nope. Guppies are tropical fish, they thrive in water that is about 78F. Goldfish, on the other hand, are coldwater fish, and they do best at water that is 68-70F. Plus, goldfish need a LOT more room that guppies will. An adult fancy goldfish will need 15 gallons, whereas you could get 8 guppies in a 15 gallon tank.

In addition to what everyone else had said about room and temps... If you gold fish are relatively larger than your guppies, your goldfish may eat them. I have had this happen on lots of occasions. I would buy guppies and put them in with my goldies, and they would be gone the next day.

Yes you can keep guppies with gold fish. Guppies are cold water fish. I have them in a non heated tank as breeders and feeders. Guppies are one of the most hearty and versitile fish there is. From salt water to brackish water and also fresh. They are perfect cold water or warm water companions for any fish.

I have them with commets and shubunkins

. . . plus, you won't be able to raise guppies because the goldfish will eat them as soon as the emerge.

Try adding some black pirahnas first, If they get along with them they will get along with guppies.
