I have started talking with a man that shares the same sign as I. Is that an issue or are the two compatible

Problem with this one is a positive one is a negative.

First and foremost - any sign can find love with any of the other signs. Generally speaking, yes. Most people that have the same sign can have a successful relationship due to their shared personality traits. As an example - a cancer and a cancer would have a VERY successful relationship. They are both ruled by the moon and are focused on the same ideals - Home, Family and Emotions. Both would console each other and understand 100% what each other is going through.
However, there are some signs that would benefit more from a different sign. Example - Aries. Aries, which is ruled by Mars the planet of War, Stategy and Passion, would probably find their best match with a Sagittarius or a Leo. This is because of the negative qualities that Ariens possess. Ariens are natural born leaders with controlling tendencies. When you get two very stubborn, energetic, controlling leaders together - OUCH. Think of it like their representative animals...2 Rams butting heads. It's that simple.
Now that doesn't mean that it couldn't work, it would just take a lot more work.

First off, find out if you really like the guy. Most ppl are attracted to their opposite only to end up broke up, statistically. I, personally, broke that rule. I married my opposite, but according to the "signs" we are a perfect match. Bottom line: If you like the guy a lot and you think you're compatible then you have a real shot. You can absolutely have a wonderful relationship. Horoscope signs are based on bogus changing star and planet positions. it was developed when people thought the sun was the center of the universe. Seriously, how is it possible that the position of a planet hundreds of millions of miles away that you can't even see possibly affect you in any way? It can't, it doesn't, not possible. If you have to believe in something, it is better to believe in yourself than superstitious nonsense.

I know a lot of same sign couples that are married.
I think like minded people are more attracted to each other as opposed to the saying 'opposites attract'.

it depends on the sign but most signs are indeed compatible, me and my significant other are the same and it's like we can read each others mind.

Depends on the signs. I believe Libra/Libra can work. Also Cancer/Cancer (this one seems like it would be ideal). But I don't know all signs real well.
