The Indian Ocean separates Africa from India.
The Indian Ocean is east of Africa (including Madagascar). It is also south of most of Asia's mainland.
The Indian ocean has many subdivisions south of Asia. These include Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea. There are also the Red Sea ending at the Gulf of Aden, and the Persian Gulf ending at the Gulf of Oman.
