I am involved in a musical in which some notes are a bit out of my range. I hate not being able to hit them with precision and I would really like any help you could give me on how to do so. Is there any way to increase your range or are you stuck with what you have?

Dear writer,

I have this same problem, so you are not alone. I sing alto, which means I cannot sing the high notes. Anyway, practicing or seeing a vocal coach can help with your range and hitting those notes. Also, try to sing from the lungs and not the stomach. Understand what I am saying? In other words, suck your stomach in, take your ribs off your lungs, and see what happens and if it feels any different than your technique of singing. I've tried it a few times and it seems to work well. Try singing high notes while laying down as well. It works for me. Remember to keep practicing and to try those techniques. Who knows? Maybe one day it may make a difference and you can become a famous singer! Hope that helped!
