i found an ad in the paper for a vet clinic seeking a vet receptionist, experience preferred but not required. i have 5 years of customer service experience and volunteer work at a clinic and a dog ranch. i have no experience as a receptionist or in an actual vet clinic working. everytime i apply for something like this i get turned down because someone with experience comes along and gets the job. there are no vet receptionist programs in my local area, what can i do to gain experience for this position? i want to work in a vet clinic as a receptionist and or assistant, no school are close by. how can i get my foot in the door and get the job? should i callback in a few days after i took my resume over or wait for them to call me (if they ever do) help!!

If you don't get the job and this is the type of office you want to work in, VOLUNTEER! Yes, you will have to give up some of your free time and yes it is without pay, but you will get the experience, and if something did come open with the clinic you may be automatically considered! Talk about having the advantage!

As for the current application you have in- definately call and follow up. If you get an interview, be sure to send a thank you letter immediately. It shows that you appreciate their taking the time to interview you.
