If you budget correctly you can live off of it. Try looking for a better paying job or work a second job to supplement your income.

First, make out a budget. Include a tiny amount for savings, along with the rest of your expenses. And, like anything else, you'll have to cut out at least some of the nice little things you enjoy if you want to save money.
I like the use of credit unions because usually they only ask for a $5 deposit to open a savings account. That way, there isn't a large minimum deposit just to have the account.
You'll probably have to get creative to do it, but you will be able to save money if you're serious about doing so.

If your bring home pay is $380, you can do it as long as your car, insurance, & utilities can be paid through the rest of the month. The trick is to work on a budget that leaves you with money through the week. Paying $300 in rent out of one $380 check only leaves you with $80 for the rest of the week, but if the rest of the monthly bills are accounted for througout the rest of the month, it's do-able. If after the bills are paid and I know I only have $30 to last me the week, I can do it. If I'm not conscious about the $30 in my pocket, it's gone by Tuesday!

That is pretty good rent. What other bills do you have to pay each month? What I find helps me with my budget, is to write down my budget at the first of the month. With you, getting paid each week, you pay rent, then the bills, and food, and then extras. Extras are clothes (except what is NEEDED) for work, underwear, etc. . The best way for me to tell you how I do it is by the month. Start with your total. First of the month is rent, then bills, food as needed, extras are eating out, and clothing. And recreation. Extra extras are lattes, etc. Please be willing to cut out some of the extras, starting with the extra extras. For clothing, eating out, and such, you could put some money to one side ($5.00) per paycheck, and when you have enough, go out to eat, or buy needed clothing. Same with saving money-try to save $5.00 per paycheck. Or, every other paycheck, or even, if needed one paycheck per month, take out some money to save. Also, if you have a big jar or something you could put your pocket change in at the end of each day, and not touch all of it, nor any of it if at all possible, that will add up too. You can do this. Please take care. .

Even $1 or $5 a paycheck is better than nothing. I'm in a situation similar to yours, but my rent is almost twice as high. (Ouch.)
One saving method that's been relatively painless, even for me, is something my stepmother calls the dime jar. (You can expand this to the "spare change" jar, use nickels, or use pennies. Whatever you want.)
Here is what I do: When I get spare change, I put it in a bottle or jar instead of spending it. Over weeks or months, the spare change accumulates. After the first three months of putting money aside, I had $27. That's $9 a month--and I never even missed it!

Treat your savings like another bill. Decide what you want to save a payday or a month and take that amount out first and put it in a savings account. What you don't have you don't miss. You will be surprised how easy it is to make it a habit to take it out first. You will also be surprised how much you can save on so little.

You cut expenses. You're rent is actually quite good, though I don't know the circumstances.
I suggest letting someone else look at your finances. Having an 'outsider's' view can be useful.
