Free internet on psp?

I have a psp & a connection with dsl at my home. I was wondering if I buy a wireless router if I can get the internet connection from my house on my psp. Also, does a wireless router have to be plugged in? If so, do I have to be in a certain range of my house to access internet on my psp? Thank You!
