I have to tell you with spell check it really drives me crazy when someone either asks a question or answers a questions and the spelling is awful. I just don't see any excuse for it. I leaned to read by phonics and I don't spell well, but I use the resources available to me like spell check. Yes, I really care about spelling!!!

There has been a stdy which shows that people do not HAVE to care about spelling and are still able to read, just as long as the first and last letters of the word are in place. For example:

Hnoeslty, deos splleing ralely mtater wehn you are raednig seomtihng?

Cheers! :)

As long as the spelling isn't so bad that a complete sentence is lost. Do you remember what a complete sentence consists of?
At least use the spell checker...even it can make a mistake.

Actually, yes. Poor spelling and grammar are pet peeves of mine, and have been ever since I was a kid. I've never been able to shake it. But I can usually control myself and not correct people unless asked to...

Not if it's a long or involved question.

But if someone posts a short "help me, please quickly answer this" type-thing, and it's only like 15 words they're typing, then the LEAST they could do is make it look intelligent.

Sorry - I liked English Comp/Lit

Yes, I do. It bugs me out the most when people use words wrong. Examples are their, they're, there, ect. Like "There car is over there." Its just not that "there" is used wrong but spelled wrong.

It really bugs me when words are spelled incorrectly. That's what spell check is for.

it is important to me...it exhibits a sense of the writer's intelligence and attention to detail...poor spelling is generally an indicator of a lack of schooling and laziness
