It could be any number of different things:

1) Because so many people are 'telling' you that this person likes you, the constant repetition is being filtered into your dreams.

2) The thought that this person 'might' like you has triggered ideas within your own mindset, setting off a question, how do you feel about this person. As such, your dreams and your daydreams come along to help you answer the question by giving you scenarios to explore how you feel.

3) You really like this person, but didnt feel confident enough by yourself to express these feelings. However, the constant repetition of others has 'given' you the freedom to start dreaming and daydreaming about this person on your own. In other words, it could have been you were looking for 'permission' to start thinking/dreaming about this person.

4) On a sadder note, it could be that the constant repetition by your friends is being filtered by you to promote only the best possible outcome. Example: "9 people say one thing, 3 people say another, but I like what the 3 people say so I will concentrate on that."

When it comes to liking someone, sitting on the sidelines doesn't solve anything. Take a chance, declare your feelings, and then go on from there.
