What makes a person emo? I mean what are the problems they are going threw?

They are depressed acting, emotional, deep, some of them cut themselves. They wear alot of black. This is what my son and his friend tell me.*

First of all, no question is stupid. There is so many different definitions of emo. I've heard that emo was short for "emotional", that it is a certain dress style that includes tight pants and weird haircuts and colors, a depressed teen who hates life, a style of music that started in the early 90s known as "Emotive Hardcore" and the list goes on. Based on the first definition, if you have feelings (which is every human on the planet) then your emo. If you wear those tight pants, all black, weird haircuts with the cool colors then your emo. If your depressed all the time and don't understand life and blah blah...ur emo. If you listen to "Rites of Spring" or "Indian Summer" (bands that started the Emotive Hardcore genre), then your emo. Want my opinion? The word is completely stupid. Needs to be banned off the face of this planet and if you use it u get fined.

Emo is a steryoype used by preps, idiots, and the other types of people known to the world. Emo is an attitude, type of muisc, and style. Emo is not emotional, but many emo people are. Emo stlye is usually all black, or darker colors. Emo people are usually either shy, sad, heart broken, depressed, or abused. Many people think that emo people are the same thing as "cutters". This is not true. Emos and cutters are very diffeent. Some cutters are emo, and some emos are cutters. Sad to say, society makes the emo population feel even worse about ourselves. If they could stop their ignorance for a minute, and just talk to us, youd see just how cool they are.

The can't handle the way they feel and so to let it out, they cut themselves. It supposedly feels better to them to bleed than to deal with anger, dissapointment etc...

no its the way they dress its the new goth unfortunately....the emotional part is just ....part of being a teen they are no more emotional than any one else..they just dwell on it for the act
