Putting my self down making unnessacary suicide comments becuase of listening to my mom, make assumptions on why i've been so down. I've been really anxious latley *more then usually*. But this week for some reason ive just been anxious! and my doctor reffered me to go talk to somebody at the mental health clinc and dont know if i should becuase i feel better. Whats your say?

GO NOW! Don't wait another day. You have been "down" far too long to come up alone. No one gets through this world without some kind of professional help at least once in a while. If they do, they have a hum-drum life at best.

You deserve better than this state of life. You are of great value if for no other reason than that you are here; you exist; you make a difference in the lives of people you don't even know...not to mention you own family and others who love you.

If the first person you see at the clinic does not help within the first 4-6 sessions, find another. Keep going till you find the one that is for you.

Medication may be suggested...take it and be faithful to it. You have been "down" long enough that your own body chemistry may be pushing you faster than you can tell. The meds are only to bring you up to the point to begin to deal with whatever the problem may be. They are not to deal with the problem...you are. You can. You must. You will.

Please take this seriously. I would love to hear from you if you start the process. I promise I will be praying for you.

Yes I would go.

But first, settle down. If you are a teenager your body is going through hormonal changes that are....normal. Don't ever think you are not normal. Everyone changes from childhood to adult differently in their minds and their bodies. And that includes emotions. And for some reason the teenage years you feel life the sharpest and at it's most extreme points, almost like there is no middle ground. There really is but you just can't see it cause there is so much in your body, mind, and life that is going on so fast.

So first I say..slooooowww down those anxisous thoughts. Find something that will calm you down. Me I walk alone alot and that calms me down. When I was young I preoccupied myself with games to take my mind off a problem. Yes me I liked to put puzzles together. Those activities slowed me down.

And remember this also that you cannot change life just by yourself. You need help. Maybe the therapy will give you ways and ideas, fisrt to find out the cause. Then next to take steps to get your anxiety down.

Don't think about the future, or your friends. Think that is for yourself. And don't worry whether you to go to therapy or not. People need help. I never went and now I am over 50 and there I days I wonder if I had. But I survived those days and now they are long past. I just live from day to day. And when I get anxious I slow down. Heck, just answering your question helps me. Thanks a lot.

What you are going through is normal. If you need help then you are more than normal and on your way to maturity you get it. It's better to have help then to go it alone. Take care and good luck.

Yes, go. 6-7 weeks of being down is clinical depression, not situational that usually goes away rather quickly. Just because you feel better right this moment does not mean you are passed whatever has been troubling you, especially if you have discussed suicide. Go and discuss this with someone, find out what caused all of this to happen. It will be healing and interesting. Then you can move on.

You should definitely still go even if you are feeling somewhat better this week. Why? Because 9 out of 10 times those feelings will come back if they are not resolved. If you want to get your life back on track and feel better inside and out, go talk to someone who can offer you some real help. You will be glad you did!

Go! There are lulls between depression, so you need to go to that clinic before it gets really bad - and it usually happens with no warning at all - and you hurt yourself!

If you want to get better you might as well go. Now if you like being depressed then by all means don't.
