And even if he was a Muslim, what would be the big deal?
For real, the guy has NEVER been a Muslim. Look it up. His birth father and stepfather were secular Muslims who weren't religious, and no religion was pushed upon him in childhood. Just cause the guy's middle name is Hussein doesn't make him a Muslim.

I am... It's not a big deal for everyone, some right-wing nuts are just doing the whole "Hussein" thing. Those people make a living spouting out pro-Republican slogans. Not everyone thinks that way, there are plenty of conservatives like me, and I don't have any problem with Obama's personal life or background at all.

I shudder to think about what prompted this question. I have never based my opposition to Obama on either his name, his ethnicity or his religion.
I am concerned about any candidate that touts his "blackness" but does not allow any challenges to that claim. Further, I am concerned that people are supporting him BECAUSE they do not know anything about him. I find that a scary statement about the US today.
I just think he ought to be telling us something about himself, other than he is against the war that we are in.
EDIT: I never denied that you had a basis. That is not what I shudder to think means here. Why do you take the opinions of a few and generalize them to everyone. It's like you want only to confirm your negative stereotypes. What's the point of that?

I have never heard anyone say that he IS a Muslim...is this one of those phony scenarios where you invent a mythical situation to portray those you disagree with in a negative light?
Apparently he may - or may not - have gone to a Sharia school when he was young, but he has clearly said he is not a Muslim.
End of story.
Unfortunately, not only is he not a Muslim, he is not qualified to be president either.

who cares what his background is, skin color, etc. What matters is his positions on key issues the country is facing; Iraq, oil prices, etc. I honestly dont care what he is i just know he has no idea what he's doing and if he were to be elected in America's time of need we're all screwed.

Even if he is not.... the name Obama has the wrong ring to it in my book..... I would rather vote the 2008- Hilary/Lorena Bobbitt ticket. The man has no chance...and trust me...it has nothing to do with race!

I never thought he was.
It really doesn't make a diffrence. If the Democtats serve him or Hillary up for the general election and it will be a landslide GOP victory. Neither one is electable.

Actually, I've already told Republicans I know that Obama isn't a Muslim, and even if he was, it doesn't matter.
I'm a conservative, not a Republican.
