If they are being offensive to you, you have the right to refuse them service.
Start by saying something like "I'm sorry sir/ma'am, but I find your remarks offensive. If you continue, I am going to walk away".
Make sure your supervisor or manager knows what is happening though - just in case (it also couldn't hurt to make a written note of the incident - include time and date).

I agree with Beth. That should not have to be tolerated at all, by any store personnel, ever. You have an option. Depending on if you are the manager, or regular employee. As manger, you have the option of letting the customer know that racially offensive talk, etc. will not be tolerated in your store. Or, whether a manager, or regular employee, you could just not say anything to the customer, let it roll off your shoulders. Treat the customer with respect (although they don't deserve it). Whether you are a regular employee, or a manager, please feel free to go to the higher-up(s) with this question. It helps to know the store/company policy on this matter. I wish you the best. Take care.

I'm not sure if you're the boss or an employee, that might make a difference. But, racism is hatred, and no one should have to put up with hatred, especially as a captive audience at work. If you don't feel comfortable saying something to the customer, talk to a higher-up.

I would ignor them. If you are with a large organization, then you might have an official policy on how to handle. If you are with a small group or family business, tell them you are offended and ask them to leave. You do not need their money if they are doing something that could be illegal.
