I think you need to draw a line between rationality and sanity. Othello was rational, there is no question; he's calculating and purposeful, not mad like Lear. But at the same time, he's also clearly gone beyond the pale of moral control. The deliberateness of the murder simultaneously makes it clear that he is under full control, and that his moral compass is irreparably broken. Hamlet has the same quality as he enacts his carefully designed murders.

Jealousy was Othello's flaw, but if one looks deeper jealousy is one's sense of insecurity and questioning one's self worth. Was Desdemona unfaithful to Othello? No. Iago knew Othello's weakeness and exploited and manipulated it. Iago and Othello are each responsible for their own actions.
