I was reviewing my latest violation notices and other than being conservative and expressing my opinion, I did nothing wrong. Please play fair liberals. We do.

Some people like to think they have some sort of power and this is the only place they get it. Don't take it personally and just move on. You will find people like that everywhere. Reminds me of High School or something.

There are people on this site who will report others out of pure spite

incidentally, can I please ask EVERYONE to complain about Violations when they are not warranted.?
A lot of people have been deleted recently after working very hard to get up to a level where they can ask and answer unlimited.

If you get violated for something that is NOT even close to being offensive, please report it with the email header "harassment by another user" and state that you do not deserve this violation. Say that it is harassment and you want the matter investigated and the REPORTERS account suspended.

I will be reporting EVERY one from now on

Lets stop the mindless yobs destroying our work

Just one point though. If you deserve the Violation - take it on the chin !

No one should be reported for expressing their opinion conservative or liberal.

We liberals get hit too. It really ridiculous. The Yahoo folks ought to actually read the answer before they issue a violation. It seems to me that they just issue a violation if someone reports you.

I'm not exactly a liberal. Personally, I will report:

1) Ridiculous personal insults. I don't know you; you don't know me. Insults are like "you and your wife are liberal nutcases" or "you're obviously an idiot" are just unfounded and uncalled for.

2) Hate speech. Comments like "All Muslims must die", "We oughta nuke Iraq into glass", or "You n* lovers better vote for a Clinton again" are inflammatory. This is not the forum for hate. There are plenty of other sites out there you can post to. They love that stuff on "The Conservative Voice." Check that out if you care to see some mind-warping nonsense. Yes, there's some liberal hate garbage out there too, and I have reported that to YA for being particularly ridiculous.

3) Borderline hate speech. Admittedly, a more subjective standard, an "I know what it looks like when I see it" standard. Comments like "People who don't support the war are traitors and traitors should die" or "If you don't love America or the President, you oughta move to Mexico, you commie!". I think these have a tenth of a defensible opinion, but somehow cross the line into one of the first two categories. I flag those depending how I feel. Most times, I just give them a negative rating.

Let's see what we can do to bring the level of reasonable debate up on this site. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but it's worthless if it doesn't hold any weight. Personal attacks, exaggerations, sweeping generalizations, claiming "two wrongs make a right", trying to gross people out, and appeals to fear are NOT valid opinions.

I only flag for obvious hate speech whether it is racism, homophobia, etc... I read your posted questions before I responded to you, and I can see why people may have flagged you though. The questions you ask are filled with generalizations designed to anger those who do not share your beliefs, and get to a pat on the back from those who share your opinion. Personally, I wouldn't bother to flag them because I would rather have an intelligent discussion than an irrational diatribe.

If you've really only been on here since 2/23/07 and already have a few violation notices, perhaps you need to examine how you phrase your "questions", which seem to be more along the lines of abusive diatribes from what I saw of the few at which I looked.

I get violation notices 100% of the time regardless of content. Why do you think I call myself grey matter? Ahem, just look at my flag. With that aside let's stop this knee-jerk polarization crap it's bad for our country. Let's all try to think free and reasonably please. I think our founding fathers would be disappointed by this behavior.

I would not have reported you.

BUT

The two "questions" I saw were really by any objective measure more rants than actual questions.

If you're not baiting anyone don't worry about it. There's a lot of closet haters out there.
