Because the SC has never been able to clearly define prifanity or obcenity? The best quite from a SC justice was "I dont know what obscenity is but I know it when I see it" Profanity is much the same.. its different things to different people.. and hasnt to date yet been clearly defined..

Because freedom of speech means just that. Using the "F WORD" can't be considered inciteful, fighting word, obscene, a true threat...or any of the other classifications of unprotected speech.
Now, a classroom is different than just a public place and restrictions on what students and teachers can say have been upheld many times. As for where the role models are, hopefully there's one in your bathroom mirror.

My god using the F word in front of a child. The next thing you know our teachers will have them learn biology and evolution.

Well, I wouldn't put much trust in what a student tells me about another teacher. It could be a way to justify his own use of it.
