they have worked together in Congress sponsoring a few bills to they know each other... say both lose in the primaries... and decide to shake things up a little...

it would, at the very least, make the election interesting...

Definitely interesting. Sounds like something this country could use in terms of a real shakeup, but very unlikely unless they both left their respective parties and created something akin to TR's Bullmoose Party from 1912.
