My fiance's ex is living in a house that is 900 square feet with his girlfriend and 3 boys. The house was bought as a one bedroom and he has rearranged walls to make it a 4 bedroom without changing the square footage. When we bring his 4 girls down every other weekend that puts 8 people in that small house-is that legal?

Every state has different laws.
In LA it is 100 sq ft per person
One BED for each person
Only same sex can share a room
Adults cannot share with children.

However, I recommend you call your local child services and see if it is OK.

I double recommend that you actually file a complaint of neglect against him and provide them with all relevant information... HOWEVER, be forwarned... if they feel you are only doing this to be malicious... even if it would normally be illegal... they likely WONT do anything about it.

It's legal for a family to live in a 600 sq.ft. house with 1 bath, 2 bdrms.,8 children & bed share, then yes, it IS legal. Not sure how healthy it is, but legal i'm sure.I guess southern folk used to do it all the time, some still do. Are the children complaining? Are they well kept? being fed & housed?, if they are happy, then who are WE to say it's wrong? I grew up with 5 siblings, 3 girls in 1 bedroom on mattresses on the floor, but we never did w/o food or the basics. My husband grew up in a crackerbox 500sq.ft. or less w/2 small bdrms,1 bathrm, and a combo kitchen/livingroom area with 8-10 ppl. living there & they all came out ok. Stop sweatin the small stuff honey. ;-)

Why in the hell do you care if it is legal. You could check with city codes then go and shoot your self in the foot because that is what you will be doing. Get a hold of your Brain You have a week end with your love your fiance please enjoy each other being alone and do not cause troubles that will hurt the kids. Unless you want to pay for it by causing trouble. That many in one house will be ironed out by the people in the house. Please enjoy the Kids when they are with you and enjoy your lover when the Children are away. Do not cause troubles.

Nope.Contact the housing authority in that city and they will change that arrangement very quickly.Possibly the Department of Human Resources also.
