Like the other poster said, if you know the runnings, you can make it happen and still have fun. Depends a lot on where you go. Mo bay or Ocho is more expensive and not as nice as Negril. I've gone down there with $700 without paying for a hotel first. Stayed at small hotels like Alfred's or bourbon beach for $40-50 a night. Share a room and it can get really cheap. I pack my clothes in a collapsable 54 can cooler. Take out the clothes and fill with ice. You can buy red stripe and stuff right from the delivery drivers on the cheap! If you see them stopped making a delivery, stop and ask to buy right from them. Unless you got a guy buying you drinks, it can get expensive, not to mention the hassle, lol. No such thing as a free drink. I've tipped and bought for a bartender without getting so much as a shot for free. Look for the small fruit trucks in the area. Pinapples for a fifty cents and a bunch of bananas for about the same. Throw in some PB&J's and call it lunch. Call it weird, but I like going to the store and getting a loaf of unsliced bread. Cut thick slices and make a nice sandwich. Quick and cheap meal, buy some rum from the store and add fruit for quick and cheap drinks. Bring a cheap coffee maker if your room doesn't have one already and drink the finest coffee you'll ever have (blue mountain) without having to pay $1-3 a cup. Don't forget to bring some back, your friends will thank you! I've seen places charge $50/lb here, get it there for $15/lb. American goods are sometimes hard to come by too, and the barter/trade system is in effect down there if you bring the right stuff. Price tags are just a starting point, food in resturants and drinks at bars are probably the only exception. everything else is fair game. I'd say bring some extra, but try not to spend it. Instead have fun with the experience and learn the little tricks to make it even better. And just use the extra money as a safety net. When you go out, put a 5 in one pocket, 20 in another, a few singles in another. Point being, dont wad it all up in one roll. You have a better chance of getting that $10 trinket for $5 if you only pull out a five or a few singles and not a whole roll. Same with everything else. Especially if your in the market for some local vegetation if you catch my drift ;)
Lots of other little tricks, but I'll let you learn them for yourself :)
Have a great time! Going myself in 3 weeks!
Check out the link below for a first timers story of Negril, good read.
One more, get a tan before you go.
No tan=just got there and will hassled to buy just about everything
Tan=been there awhile and most likely heard it all already and they leave you alone a little bit.
Whatever the case, show respect and you WILL get it back. Thats how most earn a living down there. Don't dog them for it.

You say the lodging is paid for. Is it at an all-inclusive resort? If it is then $500 each should be fine for just spending money. All you would be spending it on is souvenirs.

If the lodging you have doesn't include all meals and drinks it is a definite NO. It would work out to be $35 each, per day for meals, drinks and spending money. That won't get you very far.

If you are talking about $500 for the both of you that will leave you even less.

There can be an opportunity to use an ATM machine but the fee and exchange rate could be costly.

Hope this helps as we are avid travelers to Jamaica. We've been going twice a year for the last 15 years and just love it. Enjoy yourself.

That depends on where you are staying. If you are at an all inclusive resort then you really don't have to spend anything extra. However, if you are staying in a hotel then you will need to pay for food, drinks, entertainment, etc. You sound like you are not sure if the lodging is included or not. By all means make sure! Don't get down there and not have enough money.

500$ for 2 weeks is possible if you:
1) buy drinks in the shop or supermarket and keep in the the frige in your room
2) eat only in "local" places (up to 5$ for lunch-dinner)
3) move around on the route taxi
4) going out chose places with free entrance or pay the entrance and get some dude paying for your drinks

Anyway the most important thing is that the sun and the beach is FREE, so ENJOY.

," jointly with, a spa, nightclub, gymnasium, and probable all inclusive. a swim up bar will be awesome too. If absolutely everyone has any thoughts i'd savour it." My take, you've 2 possibilities. We pass to Hedonism II. Why? it has a spa, the acceptable nighttime life on the 7 mile sea coast Negril Jamaica, swim up bar with the acceptable server Serena and it really is all inclusive. Wild individual thrilling, the position rocks, party on! yet until eventually you 2 are secure in who you're and one yet another it in simple terms would nicely be to a lot to address. SO, that brings us to the second one position. Breezes in the course of the rigidity from Hedo. tremendous spot, extra appropriate rooms and not at all as wild. yet you could walk in the course of the line with a nighttime pass set up by Breezes and luxuriate in a nighttime of untamed thrilling too then run decrease back in the course of the line to locate ordinary how you could pass your stay to Hedo in the journey that your so susceptible ( or no longer in case you freak out at us freaks interior the residing house at Hedonism like my Sister-in-regulation did very last year) I absolutely have an excellent commute agent which could help you study a lot earlier you opt as they spend truly some time in Jamaica and at Hedo. in simple terms deliver me an digital mail in case you pick.

I could make it work but alas i live here and i know the "runnings". I think you should double it considering the fact that tourist areas (if thats wheere you are staying) are pricey and factor in food transportation drinks souvenirs attraction/club fees and so on.
