The War of 182, as it is a neutral expression, meaning it doesn't have any political bias the other three expressions have. Mr Madison's War was an anti war expression, so not accurate in the objective sense (also because it wasn't really Mr Madison's War, the war hawks pressured him into it). It wasn't really a war for neutral rights because it was basically a war that had most causes settled before the war officially began, but because of the slowness of travel at the time, the politicians in America didn't know that Britain had agreed to settle all of the issues with us amicably. In fact, the agreement arrived in Washington shortly after we declared war. Imagine the British reaction when, after reaching an agreement with our representatives, they then receive a declaration of war. Britain didn't want a war with America because it was fighting France at the time. This also was not a second war of independence because of the reasons already stated and because at no time was Britain interested in reacquiring its problem former colonies. It was essentially then a war that feature Native Americans being the majority of the fighters. It was mostly an Indian war, therefore, settling old grievances between America's Indian allies and the British Indian allies. White history of course puts it into the context of a a white struggle, while Native history has a completely different point of view. If you look at who actually was fighting the majority of the battles, you discover the true nature of the war. that is why it was said of the treaty "We have brought back nothing but peace," and "The era of Good feelings followed.

I think that more people would relate to the War of 1812 and know what you were talking about more than if you said any of the others. I also think that it is a better name because it is a fact. Some of those other names are more of opinions. It will also help you to remember the year that it happened :)

the most known is The War of 1812 but the best to describe it was The War of Neutral Rights since it was not much of a war

The "War of 1812" because it's when "Francis Scott Key" wrote the "Hymn", "The Star Spangled Banner".
