For Dragonballs, you have to collect all 7 of them, grand you one wish and you have to wait for a year for another one. You CAN bring back a life without any problems.
With Philosopher's Stone, you'll also have to sacrify life. It'll run out of power eventually, but you'll still get a lot done with the stone without any waiting period.

Dragon Ball I can wish for anything wich means I dont have to know alchemy to get what I want.

FMA is totally awesome!!! and the philosopher's stone would be better of course.... but....
DRAGONBALL (Z) is awesome as well... so...
if they got hte dragonballs, they would be better, but the philosopher's stone is pppeeerrrreetttyyy good

Dragonball why don't have to sacrifice as much for them, also i do not have to sacrifice human lives to create them.
