OLD school remotes use to make a click niose when you pressed a button, that is how they came up with the word "clicker" for remote.

It clicks because it would not otherwise be obvious that the actor pressed a button.

Here's another accomodation for tv: They look at a computer and the lettering on the screen is usually giant.

There was also a movie that had silverware in the background (I believe the movie was Hitch) and it was at a resturant that has these really cute plastic dishes and spoons (a real resturant, Rice to Riches)...No metal. They do it to show that someone is clicking something or they need background noise.

Nowadays none.
But the old ones did (really old ones lol)
Plus, I think they do it on tv just to show what the character is doing.. I mean you might not know they shut off the tv unless you heard the click.

how old are you? I'm showing my age, but the early remote controls actually did click. I hated them.
