Paul Kariya is a monster when it comes to fast skating. He's known for his small size and great speed, and has won the Fastest Skater competition at the Skills Contest more than once.

I'd like to see Mike Modano entered into the speed portion of the skills competition again. He's been in the league since 88 and he can see 40 better than he can see 30 but he can still move with the best of them.

I agree with alot of people. Selanne still has it, Sakic, Kariya. One person not mentioned is Martin Straka. Marty has got alot of speed and can skate just as fast as those young guns.

Check out Mark Recchi of the Pittsburgh Penguins. He's pretty amazing. He just turned 39 years old and he has netted 22 goals this season, 506 career goals. You can always tell when he's on the ice...very quick and choppy skater.

Scott Niedermayer is an incredible skater. He can play 35 minutes of the game, rushing end-to-end faster than the young forwards, and hardly look like he exercised after the game.

The smoothest skater in the league is Scott Neidermeyer of Anaheim. You don't realize how fast he is because it doesn't look like he is skating at all. There are many other vets with speed to burn.
