These aren't events, but... The North had factories and better means of producing weapons and manufactured goods and they had a larger population to maintain troop strength. They also had access to the silver in the western territories to help finance the war, and the military was already established and well trained.

I do not believe that the Union was destined to win the US Civil War. Quite on the contrary, I believe that had the Confederacy's luck not run out, then I believe that Americans would be singing the Bonny Blue Flag rather than the Star Spangled Banner.

First of all, the Confederacy was led by superior leaders (prior to Hiram Ulysses Grant (aka Ulysses Simpson Grant)). Additionally, their strategy of fighting a defencive war (sorry, I'm British, so pardon my spelling) on their native soil was genius. They knew that they would have difficulty moving their supplies into Union territory, so they made the Union come to them. Had the confederacy kept this strategy, and not become impatient, then they very might have held off the Union long enough for the Confederacy to receive recognition by other world powers and end the war.

Also, the Confederacy ALMOST had the military and full financial support of Great Britain. If the Confederacy had gained this support, then it is very easy to conceive that the Union would've been outmanned and outmatched technologically.

So, to recap my humble opinion, I believe that the Union was somewhat lucky in winning the US Civil War...

I sincerely hope this helps!!!

The Union wasn't destined to win the Civil War.
The South was primarily an agricultural area while the North was a banking and manufacturing area.
The North had the where with all from the manufacturing to have more arms and ammunition as well the the ability to blockade the southern ports to prevent the south from trading with Europe.

Contrary to what many would like to believe the war was not fought over slavery but over economics. The south was trying to bypass the northern entrepreneurs and deal direct with Europe.

Because they controlled the majority of the manufacturing facilities at the time and could aquire enough raw materials because of their larger established ports.
