I miss Everwood so bad, I love that show. I don't remember the song specifically but I think from your brief description it was
"This Is Your Life" by switchfoot on the "beautiful let down" CD.
If not I definatley think it was Mary Beth Maziarz "This Is Our Life" those lyrics fit Jake and Nina best
