I happen to agree with you, though you may be appalled to hear I am not a Penguins fan. I think the addition of Gary Roberts adds some grit, scoring punch to the second line, and a load of experience. Adding Laraque is the key though - just ask Gretzky who had Dave Semenko to patrol a wing for him, or Mario Lemieux who had one of Rick Tocchet or Marty McSorley to protect him. Sidney Crosby now will be more protected, as wil Jordan Staal, Evgeni Malkin, and the other young guns. I am now actually scared of the Penguins in the playoffs, though, I fear that Marc-Andre Fleury may still not be ready for primetime yet. We will see though.

The Penguins seemed to make out pretty well. If Detroit can get a healthy, hard-hitting Bertuzzi on the ice, that would be the best trade this deadline. The most interesting has to be the Ryan Smyth deal to the Islanders.

Ok I refuse to admit Todd Bertuzzi to Detroit was a good move because as much as I hate Detroit I hate Bertuzzi more. So, I will have to go with Smyth to the Islanders. Is a shame the avs could not find somewhere to dump theodore because that would have been a great trade.

Can someone please smack colorado for me. They traded for an ahl goalie and a guy on the injured reserve, and yet they still claim to have a shot at the playoffs. Anyone else want to start a petition to fire their new gm?

SJ getting Billy Guerin.

The Sharks already had a potent offense with Thornton, Cheech, Marleau, Michalek, and the list goes on. Now, they more than solidified their offense and have made 3 scary lines even more absurd. They definitely have one of, if not the best, group of forwards in the league. Guerin will fit in just nicely and complement the rest of the team helping SJ to a very successful playoff run!

Easily San Jose getting Bill Guerin. From the beginning of the season, San Jose was looking for a gritty physical winger to plya with Cheechoo and Thornton. Mark Bell turned out to be a flop, and Clowe isn't there yet in his development. Guerin fits that role, and delivers even more scoring to that already potent top line.

Best trade, i don't know, but the worst trade was by the islanders, they gave up a TON for a guy who, i think, will be an unrestricted free agent next year. The only way that deal is worth it is if he takes them to the cup finals, and I'll wager right now that it doesn't happen.

The Flyers picking up Biron is a HUGE help to Philly.

Phillys biggest weakness was between the pipes, followed closely by weak D. Biron will lower the Philly GAA by a goal per game. That is a huge stat considering what they gave up in trade.

Is it enough to turn Philly around? No, but it is one heck of a start.

I would have to say the Sharks are the winners at this years deadline. Picking up a guy of Guerin's calibre and also adding Rivet on defense last Sunday. They will be a force to be reckoned with come playoff time.

definiately ryan smyth to new york. it was a terrible trade on edmonton's part. robert nilsson, ryan o'marra and a first-rounder in 2007 for the heart and soul of the team???? what was kevin lowe thinking? the only good prospect in the 2007 draft is angelo esposito and the only way the oilers are going to get him is if they get the first overall pick. pretty unlikely.

I forget who got Ryan Smythe, but that was a shocker for me. I think it's good Bill Guerin is going to get to a team that has a chance, he was carrying St. Louis. Too bad the Avs didn't make more moves, but I think our season is over anyway.
