Hello:

I'm a naturopathic doctor, I recommend cleansing as a way to detox the body, there are several colon cleanses on the web, most are ok, some are very good. I would not recommend GNC as the other responder says, you don't really get what you pay for in their products. I can tell you that for a colon cleanse to be effective, it must last for over a week, and you need to change your diet during the cleasne. If you would like specific help you may email me and I will give you a list of do's and don'ts.

With Regards,

Dr. James Hopkins ND

First of all you would also be getting rid of some very benificial bacteria in your cleansing. It could actually end up hurting you. For some unknown reason you feel a ned for this. Make sure mit is really needed. Talk to a doctor before you start. You haven't mentioned your gender, age , or health condition.

There is a saying that you cannot unring a bell. Which means that if you cause damage, you may not be able to repair it.

it is called WATER, you know, the stuff when chemically called is H2o?
your bowels are MEANT to cleanse naturally! there are bad bacteria and good bacteria in the intestines. when you upset the balance of one, your going to end up with a VERY bad yeast infection and DRY intestines....VERY painful.

why do you feel the need to cleanse? you are basically stripping the intestines of enzymes that NEED to be there.

do you realize that if laxatives or cleanses are a normal (really abnormal to do so more than once a year) that you are setting yourself up for some major health issues when you get older?

enemas are for surgery purposes only.

First of all I don't buy any of my vitamins or supplements from GNC; I don't believe you get what you pay for with their products and their sales people are not very knowledgeable. I like a product by Nature's Secret called Super Cleanse. You also need to use a acidophillus complex that takes care of the entire digestive tract not just lower intestinal tract. Make sure to get good fiber and alot of water (purified or distilled) in your diet also to help the cleansing process. Stay away from white sugar and flour they are terrible for you (neither sugar or flour are white in nature -- they are bleached in the "enrichment" process). Eat "whole grains" only .

Good luck

Colon cleanse from GNC is a good one. Dont forget to take some acidophilis after your cleanse to replenish your friendly bacteria. You can also show down on 4 bowls of raisin bran. It will clean you out as well.

First a disclaimer that I am not a doctor, so take my advise or leave it accordingly. :-)

White oak bark and cascara sagrata (I am sure I spelled it wrong) will do the job. Thoroughly. Take them on a long weekend when you don't have to be anywhere.
