If you are scared to be by yourself still,get a friend and sing the dreaded...LOVE SHACK!!! it's fun.
I have been doing karaoke for years, and I have found my faves. I have a lower voice so I do Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, Dixie CHicks songs because I sound the best doing those artists and can really get into them.
Any song you feel the most familiar with and confident with should be your first one.
My advice is pick a song way ahead of time and practice during ALL of your free time and in the car and everytime you can,until you are totally familiar with it backward and forward and almost to the point of being sick of hearing it.....then you know it well enough to be more confident and less scared of messing up.
But ya can't really mess up Love Shack with a buddy anyway.
