Being that today was the first game of Spring Training, Im finding that I'm barely able to sit still. What is that certain allure that captures us all? Is it our love for the game or is it that every team has a chance at this time?

spring training's allure to all us baseball fanatics, symbolizes the comming end to a long cold harsh winter, (that is if you live in a cold climate) and to all of us the comming of spring and summer, and the chance that your favorite baseball team, might win the world series, (although we know most teams without mega dollars to spend don't really stand a chance to compete with the teams that have unlimited financial resource's. Also, you cant shorten spring training because of the pitcher's, unlike the rest of the line up, the pitcher's need the most amount of time to strengthen thier arm's before the season starts. even at the start of the season the hitters still have the advantage over the pitcher's till they really get into thier full season groove. and there would be alot of arm injuries to the pitcher's if they did'nt have the necesary time aloted to build up thier arm strength. and besides the owners like the extra revenue spring traing generates.

Well, I think of it on another level. Baseball is a summer game, which is the time of year I prefer. I like warmer weather and longer days. Spring training tells me its just around the corner. Just like groundhog's day. It actually means nothing, but I like seeing it come around every year.

You said it...plus you get closer to the players, and AZ and FL are a welcome place to visit when you live in colder places. Gotta love the spring...everything seems full of hope all the way around.
