I joined the U.S. Navy when I was 17 and went to boot camp when I was 18. The experience I had was amazing and taught me so much about myself and life. It gave me an amazing career and so much discipline and respect as well as multi tasking skills. I think today's youth would benefit tremendously and the world would not have as many problems as it does. Just think all these spoiled youth's would have to learn responsibility and how to take care of themselves and respect others. I don't see that as such a bad thing especially when you watch shows like super sweet 16 and Maui fever. I don't think it will ever happen though.

I personally think that forcing them to be in the military would be a bad idea, but in some countries this is really a very common thing. I think that it would be interesting to offer a college or high school class that teaches students what the military basically does and is (not a history class and not ROTC, more like basics but shorter), that way people would know weither they'd want to join or not before signing away their lives.

As a military member let me say NO. We have enough trouble with people joining and then deciding they don't want in, but don't want out badly enough to actually do anything. They then make a nuisance of themselves for the next several years. Let's keep in voluntary.

Yes, but it is too late now for that. It would certainly teach our youth some respect and discipline, as well as very useful hands on work experience. I think it is a good idea, but it wont ever happen.

This is called the Draft. The liberals would love to see the draft reenacted.

Bad Idea. It is not needed.
