1" pvc can be bent , if long enough. I cut six pieces of re bar about a foot and a half long and drove them halfway into the ground 6' apart. I made three sets of these about three feet apart.
Then I placed three twelve foot long pieces of pvc pipe from one to the other creating the ribs of an igloo. I bound the top centers with a bungee cord which bent them toward the center.
In the summer, the grand kids used it as a play house with an old parachute over it to create shade. In the winter, we did it again with lights inside to illumnate the igloo as part of Christmas decorations.
I know You can make lawn furniture with the right number of curves and joints.

Practice swords!

Cut a 3/4-inch or 1-inch diameter PVC pipe to about 40 inches long. Get foam pipe insulator, and cut a piece of that about 32 inches long. Put the insulation on one end of the pipe, cutting and folding the top inch over the end of the pipe. You may want to add extra padding to the point. Use duct tape to hold everything down.

Now cut about a foot-long piece of insulation, and cut a hole in the middle of its length, big enough to stick the pipe through. Put this onto the pipe, so that it rests at the base of the insulation already on there. This is the "guard" (protects your fingers from opponent's sword). Wrap this in duct tape, compressing and squishing to make it smaller around (and stiffer).

Add weight (deep sea fishing lure) inside the bottom of the sword. Fold the weight into a long pice of duct tape, and stick inside the pipe, with the tail of the tape coming out. Fold the tape back over the outside of the handle, and tape down. This will keep the weight from sliding forward.

Get a high-bounce ball (big one) and stick on the back (pommel) of the sword. Use a LOT of narrow strips of duct tape to hold it down.

Wrap EVERYTHING in a couple layers of duct tape.

The part of the sword that doesn't have any foam on it is the grip. Wrap THAT in electrical tape. You may add twists of tape first, for texture, then cover in tape (makes it easier to hold without slipping).

Ta da! Lots of fun! If you're going to let kids play with it, they will need to be supervised (and may need a slightly shorter sword - it gets heavy with all of that tape!) Protective head gear of some kind is also a good idea. Only if they plan on actually fighting with it.
