I'd tell her fine, when we have kids don't plan on seeing them 'cause I won't consider you as being a fit grandparent. The woman is obviously eaten up with her idea of how important she is. If your husband puts with that treatment of you he can't be much of a man. One of my sisters treated my wife much the same way. I haven't spoken to her in 30 years because of it and won't unless she gets down on her knees and apoligizes to my wife. Your husband, if he truly loves you, should feel the same way about your MIL's treatment.

You didn't want to be there among all those stuffed shirts anyway 'cause you know it isn't going to be fun. You don't need that party so good riddance. But you might want to mention that it is in very poor taste for her to tell you about the party when you're not invited or wanted and if your mother-in-law was a true, refined lady as she'd like to think she is, with proper manners, she would have kept the party to herself.

I'd be a little hurt by the comment but she may be right. I'd ask her why she would say such a thing and perhaps she'll give you some insight of who is going to be in attendance and why you wouldn't fit in.
If it's a bunch of old people or people you don't know at all or have little in common, it sounds quite dull. Honestly, who would want to hang around anywhere your not welcome (by hostess) and around a whole bunch of strangers. I'm sure you have better things to do, but I guess it's up to you.

Initally I'd probably be hurt by her attitude toward you, but after a while you just have to ask yourself if you would really want to go to a party full of people who are "too fancy" for you. Sounds to me like it'll be a bunch of stuck-up snobs all hanging out- not my idea of fun.

Just say who cares? You have better things to do and have your own friends. It is very rare out there to find a cool mother in law.

Let's see? How about, "I'm having a life, but you're not invited because you're an a#@**le!"

been there-ignore her, she wants to hurt you, don't give her the power to affect you--if a person like her doesn't like you, that's a positive thing.

Try not and let her get to you...she is trying to push your buttons.....don't allow her to.
