What was the 9Story Behind Athena and Arachne...need some major Help?

i have this oral presentation to do and i need it in 5 weeks but i dont like procrastinating and do it a week before its even due

Basically, Athena taught Arachne how to weave. Arachne acted as if she'd taught herself, and bragged that she was even better than Athena. This made Athena mad. Athena turned her into a spider. This is why spiders weave, and why they are called "arachnids."

Arachne was a master weaver. People loved her work. She got too boastful and said that she would beat Athena in a weaving contest. Athena was angered and accepted Arachne's challenge. Athena won, and as punishment, Arachne got turned into a spider. This was from memory, I haven't read Greek mythology books in a long time. So I had to strain myself to remember. After checking on Wikipedia, I realize I was quite close.

Athena did not "win". Arachne chose a subject for her tapestry to be about Zeus' unfaithfulness. Athena found this subject to be inappropriate, so she changed Arachne into a spider.

Arachne was super good at the art of weaving. People came from all over just to see her tapestries. Eventually, all of this lauding made her get a big head. So, one day someone says that she's ALMOST as good as Athena, the patroness of weaving. Arachne is insulted and blows out that she is BETTER than the goddess. Athena, outraged, promptly challenges the insolent girl to a contest. Somehow the goddess loses face, either from not winning, or not doing as well as expected, it varies. In her rage she kills Arachne, regrets it, and turns her into a spider so she and her kind can "weave their little hearts out." Its basically a creation story, how we got spiders, why they weave, why they are called arachnids, ect.
