What was the response to colnization within Nigeria?
Were there any famous groups/people that aided or resisted colonization?
When, where and how did Nigeria win it's independence?

about 1/2 way down it talks about colonization and also how Nigeria gained it's independence.
There it also lists groups of people who were influential and in power during the colonization and before and after. Wikipedia is a reputable site with a lot of good information

The first link explains how the division of the country helped lay the groundwork for the formation of indepedence parties, and their foreign interests.
The second has several subsets on the overview of colonialism's affect on Nigeria
The third details the relation of those parties to the regions to which they were affiliated, and thus garnered their support and influence from.
The last link details the process by which the various ethnic and cultural regions, through coups and civil-wars, struggled to work out their differences.
