I have a Hitachi laptop HDD that has failed. I need to send it in for an exchange. Their support website says that I need to package it a certain sort of packaging (electrostatic discharge bag and foam / padding all around the HDD) or Hitachi packaging.

The problem is that I have discarded the original package.

Any idea where I can get such a package from?

I just called the customer service and they arranged for an 'advanced RMA' i.e. they will ship me the newer HDD first. I can then ship back the old HDD in that package.

Thanks everyone!

Go visit Best Buy/Circuit City/or your local computer store. They often install disks for people and may have them laying around to give you one.

The post office would have a huge array of packaging with bubble wrap stitched on the inside and they you'd just send it out right there. Don't forget to take the address you need to send it. I've almost done that before.
