OK, lets deal with this one at a time. first for the ankle, Ace wrap, Ice and elevate as often as possible. Many ortho doctors will tell you, a fracture is easier to treat. It heals in 6-8 weeks and a sprain, can take longer.

Next, check the crutches to make sure they are adjusted correctly. You want about two to three fingers clearance between your armpit and the axillary pad on the top of the crutch. LOCK your arms in straight and support your weight on your arms, not your arm pits. That extra pressure can cause nerve and vessel compression and can cause you more trouble than its worth.

Ibuprofen is a good drug of choice so, ace wrap (not too tight), elevate your ankle when sitting down, and ice to help with the swelling and pain.

Sometimes ice helps and keep it raised above the level of your heart so it throbs less. And make sure your crutches aren't too high. If they go all the way up to your armpits they will rub you raw. Make sure they are lower - think more rib than armpit - and sometimes if you wrap them with a soft handtowl for padding it helps a little. Hope you feel better soon. I've had a few sprains myself. Hurts worse than a broken bone.
