I am definitely in favor of same sex marriages and have all the benefits of our heterosexual counterparts. The thing i don't understand that if our marriage only has to be recognized by the government to get the same benefits then what does it matter what the church says what a marriage is. The last time I looked there was suppose to be a separation of church and state. Also if a church doesn't want to marry me and my husband that is fine I will find one that does.

I completely support it.

While religious beliefs should not play a role in government, the reality is that a rather large portion of our population is against gay marriage (for religious reasons or otherwise, although I have never heard any non-religious arguments against gay marriage) and our representatives are supposed to represent the wishes of everyone, bigots included.

However, I don't understand why there isn't already some nationwide form of legal marriage for gay couples. If the problem is protecting the "sanctity of marriage" then don't call it "marriage." Any couple, gay or straight, should be entitled to the same legal benefits and protection.

Absolutely I'm in favor of same sex marriage.

I never understood why bigoted str8 people are so unaccepting of something that doesn't even affect them. All I can say is they've made a mockey out of the institution of marriage anyway. With a 50-60% divorce rate, str8 people, you arent doing a very good job...so get over it, and get over yourselves!

NOPE! And I have been madly in love, enmeshed, financially interdependent, and connected to my partner for 15 years. We are even "hyphens". (we have the same, hyphenated name)
Marriage is a dead idea. Religious people can seek it, but it should mean NOTHING legally. I am all for civil unions. For all. Not just gays. I believe in separation of church and state, and the state should not recognize church rituals.

Absolutely! my partner and I are registered domestic partners, and we've had a commitment ceremony....but we still feel "separate but not equal." as soon as it IS legal, we will get legally hitched!
If 2 unrelated, consenting adults love each other and are in a committed, monogamous relationship, it shouldn't matter what their gender, race, religion or culture is. Love is love!

YES. Currently engaged to my boyfriend. Getting married soon.
We are not getting married in a church. MY boyfriend is Christian, I on the other hand am not, I belong to the Druid religion, which is Pagan. We will do it in court. :-)

Yes, definitely. Any two people who love each other should be allowed the same rights and held to the same responsibilities, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Only if we can get divorced too. The Str8 people should not be the only ones forced to pay millions to lawyers and courts each year.
