I have to do my homework, and I can't read the letters, since they are too light. I can't find the manual, so can someone please help me? please and thankyou.

I have a TI-83 so it's probably the same. Press the 2nd key then the up arrow, each time you do this a number will flash in the upper right corner which indicates which shade level you are on, it goes from 1 up to 9 (which is really dark), once you hit 9 and it's getting light again it's time to change batteries. Hope this helps!!

not sure for TI-85, but i know for TI-83, hold the 2nd key and press the up and down buttons

Hit the 2nd button followed by the up arrow. That will increase the contrast.
