I'm not sure if anybody is familiar with this event but I have been doing a little research about it and was interested in organizing an event for the cause in April. My question is, have any of you heard of it or attended one of these events? Do you know anything about it or have any stories from your event? Just wondering, I'm not sure on how exactly they work or if they are at all popular.

Yay Take Back The Night! haha I'm involved with TBTN on my campus, so I know a bit about it. We seek to educate others about sexual assault, and to aid survivors. Each year, we have a rally, where we have a night march, followed by testimonials from survivors. this puts our mission statement much more eloquently than I can haha http://www.myspace.com/takebackthenight_ucsb. If you are referring to the rape and abuse awareness event, yes, I have attended one in my town. Gather somewhere meaningful...this depends on your town. Town Square, Park, steps of City Hall etc. Arrange for a couple of speakers to be on hand...City Official that is committed to clearing your town of predators, A Church Official to bless the event, Someone with a victims story to tell. In the Public Service Announcements you'll need to write for your local newspaper and radio stations, be sure to tell everyone who wants to to bring their own candle to light at a certain time during the ceremony. Once the candles are lit, it's nice to have someone sing or play a meaningful song. The group can stay there, or if suitable in your town, walk to another location a couple of blocks away.

It's good that you're wanting to start an event. Good luck!
