she still wants it to be professional but edgy and the colors are completely up to us she has no preference

You could always go purple and orange, like FedEx, but I think taupe and rust, or violet and charcoal gray might work out well for her.

You can use any colors your client likes ... I happen to think that a 'dark purple' would be good, with either yellow or orange in 'contrast' ... but you should ask your client what her 'two favorite colors' are since it's her 'website' you are designing.

I still like black and white. You can do some amazing things with the basics!

Silver as a main color and black as an accent.
Or white/purple.

silver / grey colour with black and white. they look sophisticated though. see sony.com, or apple, it's cool.
