i'm sure you are asking why the rotation affects the earth's day.

the rotation of the earth lets the sun touch all the places on the equator. when it gets back to where you started measuring at, it will take 24 hours.

that's because it takes 24 hours for the earth to make one full spin

if the earth spun twice as fast, our day would be 12 hours long, because it would take less time to go around one time.
